What We Do

We scale evidence-based programs in ROE #1.

We create and support cohesiveness among the 6-county ROE #1 region in West Central Illinois including Adams, Brown, Cass, Morgan, Pike, and Scott.

We support a regional school culture of leadership, student voice and self-empowerment by providing funding, peer-to-peer networks, coaching and mentoring for ALL school staff and students.

We support long-term implementation of Leader in Me (LiM) to measure impact on graduation rates, build on momentum from our 2009 partnership with Franklin Covey, and be a model community for other communities interested in implementing LiM.

We bring educational experts and thought leaders to the ROE #1 region providing support for educators at all levels and support innovation in teaching through the Quincy Conference.

We are responsive to school and district interests and needs.

We conduct transparent data collection and evaluation of programming.

We model Leader in Me principles as an organization.

Our History

The Adams County Academic Success Initiative (ACASI) was founded in 2007 with the goal to help all students become effective leaders, better students, and ultimately successful citizens contributing to the quality of life in our community.

The Quincy community is a pioneer in the work of Franklin Covey and is mentioned in both editions of the Leader in Me book. Over the past eleven years, ACASI facilitated the implementation of the Franklin Covey “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” in Adams County schools by sending staff to conferences and trainings and empowering these newly trained individuals to lead their school teams.

In 2015, ACASI helped bring Quincy Conference back to the community with the goal to help build a community-wide 7 Habits culture and create a Leader in Me (LiM) training hub for the region. LiM is an evidence-based, comprehensive school improvement model—developed in partnership with educators—that empowers students with the leadership and life-skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.

LiM builds on and incorporates the Franklin Covey 7 Habits program. Quincy Conference provides a unique opportunity to support the Leader in Me process and at the same time introduce new educational ideas and approaches to regional educators. This approach replaces the original model of sending small groups to outside professional development and then bringing these ideas back to local educators.

In March 2018 ROE #1 became the Fiscal Agent for ACASI with the intent to expand ACASI to serve the ROE Region. In 2019, ACASI undertook a strategic planning process which resulted in updates to our mission and vision and a new name – ROE #1 Leaders for Life – to better reflect our organization’s purpose and goals.

Strategic Plan

This Strategic Plan clarifies the purpose and direction for ROE#1 Leaders for Life, formerly known as the Adams County Academic Success Initiative, from 2019-2022. The Strategic Framework includes the Mission, Vision and Strategic Priorities.

The overarching strategic priorities to address during the span of our Plan are: Increase Community Awareness and Support, Strengthen Organizational Structure and Stability, Increase School Participation in Leader in Me Program Opportunity, and Establish Organizational Goals and Evaluation Practices.
